Virginia Tech landed a verbal commitment from defensive back Lakeem Rudolph, the No. 24 ranked 2020 prospect in Virginia (247 Sports composite).
The Green Run rising senior (Virginia Beach, Virginia) had more than a dozen scholarship offers. The FBS schools that offered Rudolph included Cincinnati, East Carolina, Liberty, Old Dominion, Southern Miss, Marshall, Kent State and Buffalo.
Rudolph, who visited Virginia Tech’s campus earlier this month, is a two-way starter at Green Run at wide receiver and safety. The Hokies are looking to bring him in on the defensive side of the ball after loading up on receivers in the 2019 signing class.
Tech has six verbal commits from the 2020 class with Georgetown Preparatory School (Maryland) running back Jalen Hampton committing earlier this week. The Hokies also lost a verbal commit when Dutch Fork wide receiver Jalin Hyatt decided to reopen his recruitment.
