PULASKI — Friday was Star Wars night at Calfee Park and the Danville Braves had the force with them as they edged the Pulaski Yankees 3-2 in the first game of the three-game series.
The Braves opened the scoring in the top of the second when Nicholas Vizcaino was hit by a pitch and Garrett Saunders walked. The runners advanced on a wild pitch and Vizcaino scored on a Brandon Chapman groundout.
The Yanks tied the score in the fifth on a Spencer Henson two-out solo shot to right-center.
Doubles by Vizcaino and Charles Reyes put Danville back on top 2-1 in the seventh.
In the bottom half of the inning, Ryder Green led off with a walk, followed by an Oliver Dunn single that put runners on the corners. Green then scored on a force-out off the bat of Henson to even the score .
The Braves went on top for good in the eighth when Juan Morales hit a leadoff single, moved to second on a passed ball and to third on a groundout before scoring on an Elvis Peguero wild pitch.
Reliever Cameron Kurz entered the game in the eighth and sat Pulaski down in order over the final two frames to earn the save.
Yankees starting pitcher Randy Vasquez threw 4 1/3 innings of no-hit ball, striking out five in a non-decision.
