The 36-hole event concludes Sunday at the Salem course.
Salem's Matt Shelor and Stephen Bain are tied for third one shot back with the team of Daryl Byrd and Marty Anderson. Harold Dill and Turner Phelps are fifth at 66.
Former champions Matt Chandler and Brandon LaCroix are tied for sixth at 67 with Roanokers Vince Wheeler and Chase Bailey and the duo of Adam McGarrell and David Wood.
Salem's Jack Allara and partner Tony Green posted a 65 that left them in a four-way tie for the Senior Division lead with the duo of Danny Hopkins and Tim Vigotsky plus non-local teams Jon Zampedro and Dave Johnson and the tandem of Randy Newsome and Jeff McKeel.
In Super Senior competition, Troutville's Chips Wooddy and L.B. Bailey collaborated for a day's best 63 to take a commanding five-shot lead.
