Former Virginia Tech pitcher Jesse Hahn said Monday he has been called up by the San Diego Padres from their Double-A affiliate in San Antonio.

Hahn said he will make his major league debut tonight when he starts against the visiting Pittsburgh Pirates.

Hahn helped the Hokies make the 2010 NCAA tournament. He was chosen by Tampa Bay in the sixth round of the 2010 draft.

San Diego acquired Hahn and reliever Alex Torres as part of a seven-player trade with Tampa Bay in January.

Hahn was 2-1 with a 2.20 ERA for San Antonio this season.
