VMI guard Jordan Ratliffe will miss this season because of a torn ACL.

Men’s Basketball

Washington College at VMI

7 p.m. at Cameron Hall

Records: Both teams are 0-0.

Notes: VMI coach Dan Earl said Monday that guard Jordan Ratliffe, who averaged 7.3 points off the bench as a freshman last season, will miss this season with a torn ACL. Ratliffe, who was the team’s third-leading scorer last season, hurt his knee in a fall workout. He had surgery last week; the operation revealed that the ACL was fully, and not merely partially, torn. … Ratliffe is one of two Keydets with a serious injury. Senior guard Austin Vereen, a returning starter who averaged 10.4 points last season, underwent wrist surgery over the summer and could be sidelined until January. He was the team’s second-leading scorer last season. … Washington College is an NCAA Division III school that went 6-19 last season. The Shoremen have been picked ninth out of 10 teams in the Centennial Conference’s preseason poll. … This game counts as part of VMI’s regular-season record, but it is only an exhibition game for Washington College and will not count on that team’s record.
