Austin Vereen announced on Twitter on Sunday that he is transferring from VMI to West Coast Conference member Pacific.

The 6-foot-4 guard had announced in March that he intended to leave VMI and join a new school as a graduate transfer.

He averaged 10.4 points as a VMI junior in the 2017-18 season. He sat out last season as a medical redshirt after undergoing wrist surgery last summer.

The University of the Pacific, which is located in California, is coached by former NBA player Damon Stoudamire.

As a graduate transfer, Vereen will be able to play for his new school in the 2019-20 season.

Vereen was one of four Keydets who entered the transfer portal in the offseason. Ex-VMI standout Bubba Parham has transferred to Georgia Tech. Sarju Patel, a Daleville native who averaged 10.2 points as a sophomore last season, announced in March that he planned to transfer from VMI. Rafael Jenkins, a freshman who did not play last season because of injury reasons, has transferred to a junior college in Alabama.

Mark Berman covers Virginia Tech men’s basketball and many other teams at the university. He also helps cover other colleges, including Radford, VMI, Roanoke, Washington and Lee and Ferrum.
