CHARLESTON, S.C. -- Floyd County High School and Virginia Tech graduate Amanda Hollandsworth shot a 7-over 78 in the first round of the U.S. Women's Open at the Country Club of Charleston on Thursday.

Hollandsworth, 23, played the course's back nine holes first. She was 2-over on her first nine, with three bogeys and one birdie.

She was 5-over on her final nine holes, with two double bogeys, two bogeys and a birdie.

Hollandsworth was only 2-over entering her final three holes, but she had a double bogey on the par-four No. 7 hole, another double bogey on the par-four No. 8 hole and a bogey on the par-five No. 9 hole.

She will tee off at 2:57 p.m. Friday.
