This week will bring two important days to Roanoke County. A primary election will be held on Tuesday, June 11 and Sunday, June 16 is Fathers Day.
Normally, fathers tell others how proud they are of the sons and daughters they raise. I am writing to tell you how proud I am of the father who raised me.
I was proud when my father was appointed over 11 other applicants to serve on the Board of Supervisors in November 2018, having earned the unanimous trust of the other four Supervisors. His tireless service to the county in his time in this office is commendable. Fitting in seamlessly with the county leadership, he voted to take action to pursue justice for the victims of the opioid addiction epidemic, to maintain current personal property and real estate tax rates, and to expand outdoor recreation opportunities in the County.
This week, he is in a contest to continue his public service to the County as Windsor Hills Supervisor. Over the last few months, he has run a positive campaign focused on policy issues and the future of Roanoke County, knocking on nearly 1,000 County residents’ doors while running his home-building business and actively serving on the Board of Supervisors. David Radford’s decades of experience as a business owner, homebuilder, land developer, and former Roanoke County Planning Commissioner have prepared him to be the right choice to serve as supervisor.
My father has a vision for the future of Roanoke County and the pragmatic leadership experience required to deliver for the County. As supervisor, he will continue to advocate for stronger communities, support the County’s excellent public schools, promote economic development policies to encourage growth and attract new businesses, and work collaboratively with county leaders for the betterment of the county and region.
More important than his decades of experience and his vision for the county are his personal qualities as a humble, dedicated professional with a servant’s heart. These same traits he brings to his work in public office define his character and make him a beloved father.
