George William (Billy) McCall Jr., 88, of Cedar Bluff, Va. passed away on Tuesday, December 22, 2015 in Bristol, Tenn. Mr. McCall was born in Huntington, W.Va. on August 19, 1927 to the late George William McCall Sr. and Lula Catherine Cunningham McCall.Bill had attended Richlands High School and was a graduate of the Greenbrier Military School. He served his country in the United States Navy and went on to attend the University of Richmond, graduating in 1950. He was also a member of the Kappa Alpha Order (Eta Chapter). On March 19, 1955, he married the love of his life and the mother of his children, the late Vivian Sewell McCall. Bill was a coal operator, a real estate developer, stock broker and was very active in the community as an organizer for Clinch Valley Bank and Trust, and an organizer for First Sentinel Bank. Bill was a charter member of the Tazewell County Country Club and, at the time of his death, was the longest active member of the club. Bill helped organize the Richlands Midget League Football Program with the guidance of the late Coach Ernie Hicks. He was a member of the Cedar Bluff United Methodist Church and a member of the Richlands Masonic Lodge #318 AF and AM for 65 years. He had lived all of his life in the Richlands and Cedar Bluff areas and was a diehard Richlands Big Blue Tornado fan known as "Billy Ball".Survivors are, daughters, Kathryn McCall Culpepper of Richlands, Va.; sons, George William McCall III and wife, Lyn of Cedar Bluff, Va., Marcus Sewall McCall and wife, Dana of Greenville S.C., John Milton McCall II of Cedar Bluff Va., Joseph Winston McCall and wife, Karen of Richlands, Va.; 12 grandchildren, Anna McCall Culpepper, Benjamin Lee Culpepper, Vivian Kathryn Cullpepper, Haley Kathryn McCall and fiancée, Matthew McClaren, Conner William McCall, Brittany Holland McCall, Virginia Lee McCall and fiancée, Travis Brannon, Marcus Sewell McCall Jr., John Milton McCall III, Brittany Leigh Allen McCall, Joseph (Joey) Winston McCall II, and William Grant McCall; go to friend, Charlotte Vencill of Cedar Bluff, Va.; special nephew, Sid Varner of Ocala, Fla.Funeral services for George William "Bill" McCall, Jr. will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Thursday, December 24, 2015 at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands, Va. with the Rev. Henry Johnson and Scott Cole officiating. Entombment will follow at Clinch Valley Memorial Cemetery Mausoleum in Richlands, Va. Pallbearers will be, Jimmy McVey, York Lindsey, David Stanton, Jr., David Peters, Greg Mance, Sandy Robinson, Mack "Mutt" Hess, Jim Huffman, and DG Jennings.
