The Virginia Tech Women’s Club recently awarded $22,000 in scholarships to 11 outstanding Virginia Tech undergraduates at their Scholarship Luncheon on April 23.

The VTWC scholarship winners are Jantzen Alley, Emily Barrett, Jenna Bender, Kimberly Fike, Cosette Geesey, Paulina Hall, Carrie Orey, Hannah Grace Wolford, Delaney Sneed, Reagan Sneed and Allison Trittschuh. Laura Pynn, from the Community Foundation of the New River Valley, was on hand to help VTWC President Heather Nicholson award Certificates of Recognition to the recipients.

The $2,000 VTWC Scholarships are based on academic excellence, service to the community and financial need. Funding for the scholarships comes from the generosity of the VTWC members. Since 1973, VTWC has raised $130,550 and awarded 107 scholarships to deserving women at Virginia Tech.

VTWC is a support organization for the Virginia Tech community. Its mission is to expand the intellectual and social horizons of members, provide scholarships to current VT students and promote the interests of Virginia Tech. Club members share educational, social and service-related activities.

In addition to the scholarship program, VTWC also sponsors quarterly club events featuring speakers from the community, an active Travel and Tours group and 20 special interest groups ranging from hiking and dining out to Bible study and book clubs.

VTWC also hosts monthly “Friday Forums” that are free and open to the public featuring a broad array of lectures on topical issues. These Friday Forums help connect the VTWC with the NRV community in a fun and informative manner.

Membership is open to all women who share our interest in intellectual growth, friendship, social activities and service to our greater VT community.
