Starting in 2014, The Pulaski County Chamber of Commerce has been celebrating Manufacturing Day with Pulaski County High School students to promote the importance of advanced manufacturing and the many career options and opportunities available in the workforce.

Manufacturing Day is nationally recognized on the first Friday of every October. This was the chamber’s fourth year reaching out to our county’s students, and the first year to focus on our eighth graders.

As part of the program this year, we visited both Pulaski and Dublin middle school Career and Technical Education students the day before the event to prepare them for the tours. Volvo representatives Marcus Thompson and Brooke Williams gave the students a preview of the upcoming event. The students visited Volvo Trucks, Red Sun Farms and Korona Candles to tour the facilities and speak with employees. The tours were followed by a picnic at Dublin’s Randolph Park with students and school and county leadership.

Manufacturing Day in Pulaski County was sponsored by the Pulaski County Economic Development Authority. This year was such a success with the students that preparations are already underway for 2019.
