A 19-year-old man died Saturday after a shooting in Roanoke’s Gainsboro neighborhood.

Police spokesman Scott Leamon said officers were called to the 300 block of Patton Avenue Northwest about 3 a.m., where they found the man with a gunshot wound.

Saeed Lateef Majied, 19, of Roanoke, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Leamon said officers arrested Bryson Andrew Brown, 30, of Roanoke, and charged him with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Officers could be seen examining a white Lexus sedan inside police tape on Patton Avenue later Saturday morning.

Leamon said investigators were still working to determine the car’s owner.

Brown was being held at the Roanoke City Jail on Saturday evening.

Leamon said police have consulted with the commonwealth’s attorney about possible additional charges in the incident, but the single charge remained as of Saturday night.
