Murder charges are pending against a Charlottesville man accused of shooting and killing a Gordonsville man while in Louisa County, according to the Louisa sheriff’s office.

William Oddie Flannagan Jr., 45, is accused of shooting Jason Ferguson, 43, in the head while the two were in a garage at 11 p.m. Wednesday, authorities said.

Flannagan then left the garage on foot toward Penta Drive, and law enforcement officers later found him at the intersection of Penta Drive and Holiday Road and arrested him. A firearm was found near a business on Holiday Road, according to a news release.

Ferguson was transported to the University of Virginia Medical Center, where he died.

Flannagan is being held without bond and has been charged with aggravated malicious wounding, use of a firearm in commission of a felony and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Since Ferguson’s death, additional charges for murder have been filed, according to the news release.

Flannagan will appear in the Louisa County General District Court on Tuesday.
