The Roanoke County School Board approved the hiring of four new elementary school assistant principals Tuesday.
Two of the new administrators will split time at multiple schools. All four are moving from teaching to administration for the first time. The changes are effective July 1.
Stephanie Burris was named an assistant principal at Bonsack Elementary and Mount Pleasant Elementary. Burris has taught at Cave Spring Elementary since 2007.
Sharee Anderson is the newest assistant principal at Back Creek and Clearbrook Elementary schools. Anderson joined Roanoke County Public Schools in 2006 as a teacher at W.E. Cundiff Elementary.
Jenny Griffin was hired at Glenvar Elementary. Griffin previously worked as a teacher in Roanoke County, and won the school division’s top teacher award in 2004. Griffin left the division that year to pursue other opportunities. She returned to teaching elementary school in 2010 in Botetourt County Public Schools.
Evan Noell will serve at W.E. Cundiff Elementary. Noell is currently a special education teacher at Glenvar High and a member of the division’s school safety advisory committee.
Roanoke County Superintendent Ken Nicely said he’s confident all four teachers will prove to be outstanding administrators.
