A man was shot and killed early Tuesday at a West Main Street convenience store in Salem, and authorities are trying to locate a suspect.

Salem police said in a news release they are seeking Mark Allen Bell, 32, of Roanoke, who is now charged with second-degree murder, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and multiple other gun offenses.

Officers were called just after 2 a.m. to the Go Mart in the 1900 block of West Main Street, just across from the Walmart Supercenter, where they found a man with a single gunshot wound.

The man was taken to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital for treatment but later died of his injuries, police said.

As of Tuesday morning, police had not released the victim’s name.

Police also arrested a woman who was with the victim at the time of the shooting, Angela Woolwine, 29, of Roanoke. Woolwine is being held on a charge of possessing drugs with intent to distribute.

Anyone with information on Mark Allen Bell’s whereabouts can call the Salem Police Department at 375-3010.
