Authorities took a third person into custody Tuesday on charges related to the death of a woman last month in Roanoke County.
U.S. Marshals arrested Shamby Marie Walker, 37, in Roanoke on charges of principal in the second to second-degree murder, principal to second-degree robbery, principal to second-degree burglary with intent to commit robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery and conspiracy to commit burglary, police said. She’s being held at the Roanoke County-Salem Jail.
Her charges are related to a May 19 incident leading to the death of 35-year-old Amber C. Ross of Franklin County, who died after being shot at a house on Overland Drive in the Cave Spring area amid what police have said was a robbery gone wrong.
Multiple people were in the house when two male intruders barged in with the intent to commit a robbery, police have said.
An altercation broke out between a resident of the house and one of the intruders, who pulled out a handgun, which fired and struck Ross.
Two men and a woman, identified by police as Walker, fled. Police have said Ross knew Walker and the two men.
Police are still searching for Andrew Arthur Jeffers, who is charged with second degree robbery and principal in the second degree burglary with the intent to commit robbery, police said. His alleged role in the incident is unclear.
Aaron Rashad Witcher, 27, and a 17-year-old boy, both of Roanoke, have been arrested.
Witcher is charged with second-degree murder, burglary with intent to commit robbery, robbery with a firearm, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, police said.
The juvenile, who has not been identified, has been charged with conspiracy to commit murder, burglary with the intent to commit robbery and robbery.
