Police are investigating a robbery that occurred Tuesday at a South Roanoke bank.

A suspect entered the SunTrust branch in the 100 block of McClanahan Street about 10:15 a.m., according to Roanoke police spokesman Scott Leamon. That’s in the Crystal Spring section of Roanoke.

The person “showed what appeared to be a gun, and demanded money,” then fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash, Leamon said.

No one was hurt.

The suspect has been described by police as a white male standing roughly 6 feet 4 inches tall and weighing about 250 pounds.

A photograph taken from the bank’s security cameras shows a stocky figure wearing a camouflage jacket with the hood of a grey sweatshirt covering his head.

He appears to have masked part of his face with a scarf or cloth, and he wore dark gloves and brandished what looks like a handgun.

The suspect also wore light-colored pants and white sneakers with dark soles.
