Roanoke police have charged a 20-year-old man with murder in the shooting death of a 16-year-old last month.

Demarcus S. Glenn of Roanoke faces a second-degree murder charge in the killing of Tyler Polumbo, police spokeswoman Caitlyn Cline said Tuesday.

Polumbo was shot May 31 outside his home in the 2100 block of Denniston Avenue Southwest.

Cline said officers arrested Glenn Tuesday at a home in the 800 block of Pinewood Drive Northwest.

Polumbo’s death is the fifth known homicide in the city this year. He is the first minor to die of a shooting in Roanoke since the 2017 death of 17-year-old Nickalas Lee

.

Cline declined Tuesday to provide information on the circumstances of the shooting or to say whether police believe Glenn and Polumbo knew each other.
