Police say an argument broke out before a Rocky Mount woman shot a man in Franklin County on Monday.

Kimberly Ann Morgan-Lefever, 45, has been charged with malicious wounding in the shooting in the Wirtz area that injured a 47-year-old man, Capt. Phillip Young said Wednesday.

Morgan-Lefever called police after firing a single bullet, which hit the man’s hand and grazed his head, according to Young. Police did not identify the man, who was treated for injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening.

Morgan-Lefever is being held in the Western Virginia Regional Jail without bond.
