Runners and walkers from across the Roanoke Valley gathered Tuesday on the Roanoke River Greenway to remember Charles Graham Zollman Jr., who died during a trail race Saturday in Giles County. Known as Graham, the 70-year-old mainstay of the running community was wearing racing bib number 261 when he died during the Eastern Divide 8-Miler race. Zollman was a member of C&C Runners as well as the Fleet Feet Running Club, which honored and remembered him during its weekly Pub Run and Walk on Tuesday. "He supported everybody in everything that they did," said one friend, Lori Joseph of Roanoke. Toni Rinn of Roanoke described Zollman as a sweet and kindhearted man. About 50 people met at Wasena Park to share a moment of silence in his honor and sign a card for his family members before the 2.61-mile walk and run on the greenway.
