Turnpike Troubadours news release

It was really just a matter of when it was going to happen, and that is very sad. Country phenomenon Turnpike Troubadours have canceled their Aug. 16 show at Salem Civic Center.

It's part of a long string of cancellations apparently connected to ongoing issues with frontman Evan Felker. The savingcountrymusic.com blog has chronicled the singer and songwriter's recent troubles, which have included multiple onstage disasters.

The band released a statement, posted as an image here.

We wish Felker and the band the very best. Addiction is a horrible disease, and it has robbed some amazing people of great vitality and creativity. Here's hoping the Felker will be a great comeback story, and that we'll see him again soon, playing and singing his ass off.
