Roanoke businessman and Taubman Museum of Art vice chairman Heywood Fralin called me from Australia to share his thoughts on the death of museum architect Randall Stout:

Randall was not only a fine architect but a wonderful person. He put his heart and soul into the design of the Taubman Museum of Art. It is a wonderful design, something that the people of Roanoke will cherish for decades and beyond.

I’m sorry to hear of his death. He will be greatly missed. His talents are wonderful and beyond description. He created an art museum in Roanoke that … will be remembered and talked about and praised from many, many areas far beyond the Roanoke Valley.
