JUNE 23, 2020 ELECTION

THE CONSTITUTION OF VIRGINIA REQUIRES THAT YOU
BE REGISTERED IN THE PRECINCT IN WHICH
YOU LIVE IN ORDER TO BE QUALIFIED TO VOTE.
In order to be eligible to vote in the Primary Election being held on Tuesday, June 23, 2020
you must be registered no later than Tuesday, May 26, 2020. The election on June 23, 2020 is
a Republican primary election for U.S. Senate. There will be no Democratic primary election.
At this time all municipal buildings are closed to the public. Although the Roanoke City Voter
Registration and Elections Office is closed to the public at this time, voter registration and
absentee ballot applications are available at the front entrance of the office Monday through
Friday from 8 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Voter registration applications may be mailed, however, must
be postmarked by May 26, 2020 to qualify for this election. Requests for absentee ballots
must be received by Tuesday, June 16, 2020 at 5:00 pm.
You can verify your voter status online at https://vote.elections.virginia.gov/VoterInformation or
by calling your local Office of Voter Registration and Elections to verify that you are registered
to vote. VOTERS ARE STRONGLY ENCOURAGED TO VOTE BY MAIL FOR THIS
ELECTION. The Roanoke City Office of Voter Registration and Elections will be open Monday
through Friday weekly and on Saturday, June 20, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the address shown
below during which time qualified applicants may make application for absentee voting in
person. Please note: at this time all in-person absentee voting will be curbside. Voters will
remain in their car during the entire voting process. All requests for reasonable
accommodations due to a disability should be made to the Director of Elections and General
Registrar with at least a 48-hour notice. Please call the number shown below should you have
any questions.
Precincts will be open on Election Day, June 23, 2020 for in-person voting. Safety protocols
will be in place in each voting site to help protect voters and election workers. Voters can
anticipate the voting process taking longer than usual.
