Kids in the Dirt is a unique series of workshops and a collaboration between Glade Road Growing and the New River Land Trust that offer:

Hands-on education for kids that engages all the sensesOpportunity to connect with nature- inspiring curiosity and wonderExposure to and participation in planting, growing, harvesting and preparing foodFreedom to explore and play on the farmPractical skill-building that boosts confidence

From seed starting to harvesting, garden art to feeding the animals, this fun and interactive series throughout the summer gets your kids up close and personal with local food production. This series is geared towards kids ages 5-12.

All workshops held Saturdays, from 12 pm – 2 pm at Glade Road Growing. You will be asked to sign a waiver at check-in.

Advanced registration required. Sign up for each workshop closes on the prior Wednesday.

Saturday April 20th: Soil, Seeds and Scavenger Hunt

Saturday May 11th: Garden Workday

Saturday June 1st: Garden Art

Saturday June 22nd: Farm Animal Meet & Greet

Saturday July 13th: Field to Plate

Saturday August 10th: Seed Saving

Supplies and a farm-based snack provided for each workshop. If your child has any dietary or medical restrictions, please indicate on the “order notes” section at checkout. Please dress appropriately for the weather and be ready to play in the dirt!
