A lot of people have asked about the extensive construction project happening on Ogden Road near the Pebble Creek apartment complex.
Roanoke-based Retirement Unlimited Inc. is developing the site for independent and assisted living for seniors. Woodland Hills is expected to open in late 2019.
Roanoke's New Millennium Senior Living Communities collaborated with Retirement Unlimited to develop the nearly 85,000-square-foot, three-story building, according to a news release, which said the project is expected to cost more than $27 million and create 150 jobs.
Woodland will have 98 studio, one- and two-bedroom units with granite countertops and stainless steel appliances. It will offer fine dining, a calendar of entertainment and outings, a library, a bistro and landscaped walking trails, as well as 24/7 licensed on-site nursing assistance. Classes taught by professionals and college instructors will be offered through the RUI University program. There also will be programs and areas devoted to residents with impaired memory.
Woodland Hills will be Retirement Unlimited's ninth community and its first in Roanoke.
“Research continues to show a trend in the population growth of seniors in the Roanoke Valley from both longtime residents and those attracted to our area’s reputation. We believe our newest community with high-end, hospitality-oriented amenities will be very well received,” William Fralin, president and CEO of Retirement Unlimited, said in a news release. "The Woodland Hills Community will have RUI’s vision and paradigm shift and bring our successful model to our own back yard.”
