June and the warmer months are the best season for enjoying wildflowers for many enthusiasts.

The showier, more abundant flowers are easily seen when driving on roads along open fields.

In the forests, foliage from trees and shrubs block much of the light from hitting the forest floor. As a result, the spring wildflowers have converted their relatively small number of blooms to seeds and are storing energy from what light they can collect into extensive root systems. Wildflowers can still be found in the woods, but one has to look in sunny spots, such as along creek banks or small clearings.

But take a walk through any open field and you are sure to spot a variety of flowers. Revisit the spot a few weeks later and the flowers you saw before will seem to have disappeared and been replaced by another species in bloom.
