Five students remain hospitalized after a gas leak in a Blacksburg apartment building the day before classes were scheduled to begin at Virginia Tech. Another 18 people were treated and released at Montgomery County hospitals Sunday. Two others reported feeling sick but were not hospitalized, authorities said.

Blacksburg officials are exploring the possibility of requiring landlords to install carbon monoxide detectors.
