Katelyn Carney was among the students wounded Monday in Norris Hall, but she still plans to attend her sister's wedding on Saturday.

Carney, 21, a junior from Sterling, Va., majoring in international business, was shot in the left hand as she and other students in a German class tried to barricade the classroom door from Cho Seung-Hui.

He tried to force his way in by shooting at the doorknob, sending a bullet through Carney's left hand.

"For me, she's my hero,'' her boyfriend, Paul Geiger, told the Gainesville Sun in Florida.

Susan Carney, Katelyn's mother, told the Richmond Times-Dispatch that despite the injury, Katelyn will serve as maid of honor at her sister's wedding.

"All the guests will wear white gloves on their left hand so she'll feel normal," her mother said.

Carney is a a graduate of Park View High School in Sterling, where she was captain of the girls' soccer team, according to the Loudoun Times-Mirror in Loudoun County.
