Help for writing a sonnet
"A Sonnet for People Who Don't Want to Write Sonnets for Their English Class"
Some people think that sonnets are hard to
write in a very nice way nowadays,
but I hope that this will encourage you
to see that sonnets are all right this way.
All you need is a little piece of rhyme scheme
and iambic pentameter to help
you not feel the need to break into a scream
and it will be easier than a piece of kelp.
The sonnet does not always have to be
about unknown ladies and their star-crossed love;
any theme should allow your teacher to agree
that you deserve an A, not a big shove.
While William Shakespeare may be the best bard,
writing your homework should not be too hard.
