Oren Peli's "Paranormal Activity," starring Katie Featherston and Micah Sloat, tells the story of a couple who experience -- you guessed it -- paranormal activity in their new home. In an attempt to capture the malevolent entity on film, the couple use a video camera to record any otherworldly activity that happens at night as they sleep. The plot is presented as a collection of the edited video evidence, similar to the style of "The Blair Witch Project." Although the movie takes a while to get interesting, the last half-hour is nothing short of jaw-dropping. However, "Paranormal Activity" reaches its scariest point at home, after leaving the theater ... trying to fall asleep. -- Alex McDilda, Roanoke Catholic
