Have a haunted Halloween
There are several haunted houses within an hour's drive of Roanoke. Dare to enter at your own risk.
Scaremare
Dates: Thursday through Saturday
Time: Opens at dusk. The line closes at 11 p.m.
Location: 2300 Carroll Ave., Lynchburg
Cost: $8 per person; $6 per person in groups of 15 or more
Contact: (434) 582-2179
Scaremare is solely made to scare the living bajeebees out of you by showing many horror scenes of what can happen after you die. But the main reason is to get people thinking about heaven and hell.
So after the 20-minute tour inside a claustrophobic house filled with different death stories in each room, there is a Bible study. Someone from Liberty University, most likely a student, will hand out booklets.
Lord Botetourt High School senior Michelle Meier said, "I went to Scare Mare last year, and it made me cry. I do not think I will ever go back, even though it has a good point to get across."
Ikenberry Orchards

Lord Botetourt senior Leah Poehner went to the corn maze last year and said, "I thought it was very scary. People jump out at you, plus you feel stuck because you're in a maze."
