On the edge
Thoughts on ....
Summer. Saturday. Sprinkle. Beautiful words, aren't they? They create such pleasant sounds, unlike words such as mud and foot, which are really just plain boring.
However, are the words appealing because of their meaning or because of the sweet, lovely sounds they make?
For example, "chocolate" is both an exotic and scrumptious word. But is that only because I love what it means? No, that can't be it. For the word "smock" is a charming word as well, but I really have no special affection for smocks in general. It's merely the sound of the word that is a delight to say.
However, words conjure up so much more than just feelings. They create images, as well.
The fact that our brain is so brilliant that we can even say words, much less think, write, define, discuss and create emotion with them is miraculous.
Who knew a little word was so marvelous and complex?
