There's plenty to learn from Shakespeare

Happieth 445th birthday, William Shakespeare.

Everyone is super excited for April 23, right? OK, so maybe you aren't going around quoting the Bard.

But while you are sitting bored out of your mind in English class on Thursday, maybe you can find some meaning in his words:

"Romeo and Juliet"

When Juliet makes herself "dead" she gives a letter to the friar that tells Romeo what she is doing. The letter does not reach him in time. So when he hears that Juliet has died, he goes to the crypt and drinks some poison. Juliet awakens to find her lover dead and so she stabs herself.

Moral to the story: Make sure to send your important mail priority because it might cost you your life.

"A Midsummer Night's Dream"

Puck is given some love potion to make Demetrius fall in love with Helena. He confuses Lysander for Demetrius, so Lysander falls in love with Helena, and Lysander had already been in love with Hermia. Demetrius then gets the potion and he falls in love with Helena, too. This, of course, causes some conflict.

Moral: Know what someone looks like before trying to help their love life.

"Hamlet"

Hamlet becomes what his family believes is crazy. He scares his girlfriend, Ophelia, who tells her father. He brings her to Hamlet and hides while Ophelia talks to Hamlet. Hamlet seems very crazy and tells her to "get thee to a nunnery." Ophelia becomes so distraught she goes crazy and drowns herself in the river.

Moral: Don't horribly offend your girlfriend.

"As You Like It"

Rosalind is in love with Orlando. When her uncle claims the throne and banishes her family from the kingdom, she flees with her cousin (Celia). Rosalind disguises herself as a man and Celia as her (or rather his) sister. When they encounter Orlando, he says he is in love with Rosalind and she (still as the man) "teaches" him how to love. She gets Orlando to pretend that she is Rosalind. At the end of the play, she reveals to him who she really is.

Moral: Guys like girls disguised as guys pretending to be girls.
