On the edge

Thoughts on ....

Playing "The Legend of Zelda," I realized that in the entire history of video games, no enemy is more merciless and indestructible than the chicken.

Slash at it all you want with a sword that scythes through the forces of evil, and the chicken will lose a few feathers, hop away and continue clucking around.

Light arrows, a ball and chain, massive explosions, huge rocks and magical attacks that would devastate far more menacing opponents are all useless against these feathered fiends. And in the older "Ocarina of Time," waling on a chicken will cause it to let loose a battle cry that summons all chickens in the vicinity to come and peck you until you're dead.

So, not only are they indestructible, but they can kill people easily. Which leads me to this question: Instead of forcing me to break my back in strange lands and dungeons, why can't the chickens save the princess?
