BLACKSBURG -- The number of personnel for Virginia Tech defensive line coach Charley Wiles continues to shrink.
Two days after redshirt freshman end William Wall was kicked off the team, freshman tackle Joey Hall was sent packing Wednesday by Hokies coach Frank Beamer.
Hall was evicted from the squad for an unspecified violation of team rules, Beamer confirmed.
While Wall had been a key backup contributor this season, Hall had never played a snap for Tech. The 6-foot-3, 246-pound native of Sanford, N.C., who was recruited by former Tech assistant Danny Pearman, was spending his redshirt season this fall.
Freshman Nekos Brown, who was moved from linebacker to end following Tech's second game at North Carolina, takes Wall's spot behind starter Noland Burchette.
Wall was jettisoned for repeated disciplinary issues, Beamer said Monday.
The Hokies will try to break a two-game losing streak Saturday against Southern Mississippi at Lane Stadium. Kickoff is 7 p.m.
