GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Virginia Tech coach Frank Beamer said his wife, Cheryl, has recovered well from serious injuries sustained during a fall in May.
The coach said Cheryl is able to walk and drive. She broke six ribs and her clavicle after tripping over a dog while carrying her grandchild at the couple's lake home in Georgia. She underwent surgery to have pins inserted in both legs.
"I'm proud of her; she's toughed this thing out," Frank Beamer said. "She broke a bunch of stuff and she's really made a comeback. ... She's been amazing."
Beamer also said his wife was very appreciative of the cards, flowers and food sent to her during her recovery.
