Virginia Tech received football commitments from two of the state’s top uncommitted prospects, quarterback Theron Norman and linebacker-receiver Duan Perez-Means from Hermitage High School in Richmond.
Norman, a 6-foot-3, 185-pounder, played wide receiver as a junior and had 30 receptions, four for touchdowns. He has a 4.59-second speed for 40 yards and is projected as a wide receiver or defensive back by the Hokies.
Virginia had made scholarship offers to both Norman and Perez-Means, a 6-4, 235-pounder who scored 12 touchdowns as a junior, eight as a receiver and four on defense. The Hokies see Perez-Means as a defensive end, outside linebacker, tight end or H-back.
The addition of Norman and Perez-Means gives Tech 11 commitments for 2009. Jim Cavanaugh was the primary recruiter for the Hokies.
