DURHAM, N.C. -- Duke's "Big Three" -- and its big center -- proved to be too much for the Virginia Tech men's basketball team Sunday.
Kyle Singler, Nolan Smith and Jon Scheyer combined for 63 points, and 7-foot-1, 260-pound center Brian Zoubek grabbed 16 rebounds and scored three key points to lead the sixth-ranked Blue Devils to a 67-55 win at Cameron Indoor Stadium.
The Hokies (21-5, 8-4 ACC), who shot 32.8 percent from the field, saw their five-game winning streak come to an end. They remain in third place in the ACC, behind Duke (23-4, 11-2) and Maryland (19-7, 9-3).
"We didn't get stops at the end," Tech guard Dorenzo Hudson said. "We didn't make shots when we needed to.
"We've got work to do for the next time, if we meet them down the road."
The Blue Devils shot just 29 percent from the field, but they made 10 3-pointers to Tech's two. They grabbed 23 offensive rebounds and outrebounded Tech 47-38.
"We've got to rebound the ball," Tech coach Seth Greenberg said. "You can't give your opponent that many extra possessions.
"Part of defense is rebounding the miss. We didn't do that very well. ... Maybe we weren't as physical as we needed to be."
Duke entered the game with the second-highest scoring trio in Division I, with Scheyer, Singler and Smith averaging 53.4 points combined.
On Sunday, Singler had 25 points and 10 rebounds. Smith scored 23 points and Scheyer added 15 points and seven assists.
Singler sank four 3-pointers, while Smith and Scheyer each made three. Smith and Singler each hit a 3-pointer in the final minute to extend Duke's lead from six points to the final margin, which was Duke's smallest margin of victory in seven ACC home wins this season.
"They've got three guys that can really shoot," Hudson said. "We've got some stuff to work on the defensive end."
Malcolm Delaney scored 19 points for Tech, and Hudson added 12 points. Jeff Allen, who played just four minutes in the first half because of foul trouble, finished with eight points in 19 minutes.
Five Tech players got in foul trouble in the first half, and the Hokies trailed 35-30 at halftime.
"We knew they [were] going to call ticky-tack fouls," Hudson said.
Tech went on a 13-5 run to grab a 45-44 lead on a Delaney 3-pointer with 9:51 to go.
"Once we took the lead, we had opportunities to score," Greenberg said. "We didn't make enough shots.
"We had the game at the ugly quotient. We just couldn't finish."
Terrell Bell scored to tie the game at 47 with 8:36 left, but Duke answered with a 13-2 run to take the lead for good.
"Down the stretch, our guys hit everything," Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski said. "Our guys showed a lot of character."
After two Smith free throws, Hudson missed a 3-pointer and Zoubek grabbed the rebound. Smith missed a shot, but Zoubek got the rebound, scored his only basket of the game and was fouled by Allen. He made the free throw for a 52-47 lead.
"The guy's a huge human being," Greenberg said of Zoubek. "When he gives you a little pop, he creates space to rebound."
After a Delaney turnover, Singler sank a 3-pointer. Delaney made two free throws and Smith made a jumper. Victor Davila missed a shot and Zoubek got the rebound.
After a Zoubek offensive rebound prompted Greenberg to pound the scorer's table, Scheyer sank a 3-pointer for a 60-49 lead with 4:11 to go.
Zoubek entered the game averaging 6.5 rebounds.
"We expect him to get some rebounds," Hudson said. "We didn't expect him to get that many."
