Hokies land 2 cagers for 2009-10 season
Jerrell Eddie said he had offers from Kentucky and four ACC programs before he made a basketball commitment to Virginia Tech.
Eddie, a 6-foot-6, 210-pound swingman from Charlotte, N.C., was one of two rising juniors to make oral commitments to the Hokies.
Earlier in the day, Tech had gotten an oral commitment from Cadarian Raines, a 6-8, 233-pound post player who averaged 14.2 points, 10 rebounds and six blocks for Petersburg High School this past season.
Eddie is entering his fourth season at the Cannon School in Concord, N.C., where he played on the varsity this past season. He averaged 14 points and nine rebounds this past season for a team that finished 28-7.
Eddie, ranked 16th on a list of “next generation” prospects prepared by analyst Van Coleman for the CBS College Sports Network, plays small forward in high school but describes himself as a natural wing.
