Defending NCAA champ Kansas announced it has signed former Virginia Tech signee Tyrone Appleton of Midland College, a Texas junior college.

In the summer of 2006, Appleton was not admitted to Tech because he didn’t meet NCAA eligibility standards. So the guard wound up at Midland, where he led the team to the national JUCO title in 2007.

He earned second-team JUCO All-American honors this year.
