BLACKSBURG - Virginia Tech will be without running back J.C. Coleman for the second time in three games Saturday.
The sophomore will not make the trip to East Carolina after tweaking an ankle injury against Western Carolina, according to Virginia Tech's Thursday injury report. He had some issues with the ankle during Tuesday's practice and had been in a blue, limited jersey all week.
With Coleman out, Chris Mangus becomes the backup to starter Trey Edmunds. Joel Caleb is an option as well.
The Hokies also won't have reserve wide receiver Charley Meyer, who has been slowed by a hamstring injury. He didn't dress for Wednesday's practice and, despite earning praise from coaches and teammates in the summer, hasn't made a significant impact yet this season.
The good news for Tech is that right guard Andrew Miller (ankle) and defensive end Tyrel Wilson (knee) are both probable. Miller was in a walking boot the second half of the Western Carolina game after spraining an ankle. Wilson didn't dress last week.
Other players listed as out this week are cornerback Antone Exum (knee), tight end Dakota Jackson (ribs), offensive lineman Mark Shuman (knee) and linebacker Devin Vandyke (knee).
