Greg Stroman, an athlete from Stonewall Jackson High in Manassas, announced Saturday that he plans to sign with the Hokies next February. Stroman picked the Hokies over Virginia and Duke.

The 5-foot-11, 160-pounder is a quarterback for Stonewall Jackson but projects as a cornerback in college. Virginia Tech defensive backs coach Torrian Gray was his primary recruiter.

Stroman threw for 1,667 yards and 20 touchdowns last year with seven interceptions. He also ran for 761 yards and five touchdowns, earning Cedar Run District offensive player of the year honors.

247 Sports lists Stroman as a three-star recruit. Rivals has him as a two-star.

He's Tech's third commitment this week, joining Columbus, Ohio, offensive tackle Brady Taylor and Hyattsville, Md., receiver Cam Phillips.

Stroman is the 17th commitment in the 2014 class. Commitments are non-binding until February.
