T.J. Lang, the son of former Duke and NBA forward Antonio Lang, said Monday that he has verbally committed to Virginia Tech.
The 6-foot-6 Lang, an off-guard/small forward, is a senior at McGill-Toolen Catholic High School in Mobile, Ala. He was an all-state pick and the Mobile Press-Register player of the year last season, when he averaged 17.1 points and 4.9 rebounds.
He said he also had scholarship offers from Oregon State, Georgia and Florida International, among others.
"I can get a lot of points very quickly," he said. "Normally at the beginning of the game, if the first [3-pointer] falls, the rest start to fall."
Lang's father scored 1,012 points for Duke, where he was part of the school's 1991 and 1992 NCAA championship teams and 1994 Final Four team.
"The way I play is more smooth offensively," T.J. Lang said. "My dad was more of a post player, I'm more of a guard. Ever since I was young, my dad preached to me the importance of handling the ball."
