The Virginia Tech women's basketball team has lost one player and added another.

Guard Alexis Lloyd said Monday she has decided to transfer from Virginia Tech so she can play closer to home. The Chicago native has not yet picked a new school. She averaged 3 points and 12.7 minutes as a freshman this year.

Lloyd becomes the second member of the team's four-woman 2012-13 freshman class to decide to transfer from Tech, joining Alex Kiss-Rusk.

Coach Dennis Wolff added a recruit Monday, though. He said he has signed Maddison Penn, a 6-foot-1 wing player from Australia. She plays for the Australian under-19 national team.

Penn becomes the sixth member of Wolff's 2012-13 recruiting class. There will be three Australians on the team next season.
