Chip West, associate head coach and recruiting coordinator at Old Dominion University, has accepted a position on the staff of new Virginia football coach Mike London.

West is a graduate of Kecoughtan High School in Hampton, where he played for current Virginia Tech assistant Curt Newsome. West was an All-CIAA wide receiver at Livingstone in Salisbury, N.C.

West has coached at Colgate, Fordham and James Madison and has recruited southeastern Virginia for both JMU and ODU. He coached defensive backs for the Monarchs and is expected to work with the secondary at UVa.

West is the fifth member of London's staff, which will swell to six when the Miami Dolphins' season ends Sunday. Dolphins linebackers coach Jim Reid, formerly the head coach at Richmond and VMI, is London's choice as defensive coordinator.
