Running back makes commitment to Virginia

Khalek Shepherd, a 5-foot-8, 195-pound running back from Gwynn Park High School in Brandywine, Md., has given Virginia its first commitment from a 2010 football prospect in more than two months.
Shepherd, a 3.85 student who is the son of former Washington Redskins wide receiver Leslie Shepherd, has rushed for 1,321 yards and scored 21 touchdowns in leading his team to a 9-0 record.
Leslie Shepherd spent seven seasons in the NFL, including five with the Redskins, for whom he scored nine touchdowns in 1998.

FSU's Andrews to leave coaching at season's end
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Veteran Florida State defensive coordinator Mickey Andrews is hanging up his whistle after 47 years coaching, including 26 years with the Seminoles.
The architect of some of the nation's best defenses that helped Florida State win a pair of national titles in the 1990s, Andrews announced his decision Tuesday in a handwritten statement.

Scott leaving Colorado football program
BOULDER, Colo. -- Sophomore tailback Darrell Scott, the biggest recruiting prize in coach Dan Hawkins' four-year tenure at Colorado, is leaving the program after 1½ season filled with injuries and frustration.
Scott told The Associated Press that he's planning to finish out the semester in Boulder as he decides on where he'll transfer, but he acknowledged UCLA remains a strong possibility.

In its latest injury report for Thursday's game against East Carolina, Virginia Tech has listed as probable: John Graves (ankle); doubtful Beau Warren (knee); and out Brandon Dillard (ankle).
Georgia's Ealey: Spikes shouldn't be suspended
ATHENS, Ga. -- A most unlikely person came to the defense of Florida linebacker Brandon Spikes, who was suspended for half a game for apparently trying to gouge the eyes of Georgia running back Washaun Ealey
Ealey said he doesn't believe Spikes should have been suspended.
In fact, Ealey seemed surprised the play from Saturday's game drew so much attention.
Florida coach Urban Meyer on Monday suspended Spikes for the first half of this week's game against Vanderbilt after the defensive captain stuck his hand in Ealey's helmet and appeared to try to stick his fingers in Ealey's eyes.
Wake QB questionable with concussion
