There won’t be any other visits. Mathis, a 6-foot-3, 240-pound defensive end from Bowie, Md., committed to the Cavaliers on Sunday morning in Charlottesville.
Mathis had 96 tackles, including 13 sacks, as a senior this past season at DeMatha High School. He also had offers from Maryland, Syracuse, N.C. State and Clemson.
With the addition of Mathis, Virginia has 24 commitments. He was a first-team all-state selection and second-team All-Washington Metro choice.
The Cavaliers plan to use him at outside linebacker.
