CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. — Two University of Virginia football players have been cleared of charges that they stole beer from a Charlottesville nightclub.
Will Barker, a 21-year-old junior, and freshman walk-on Dave Roberts were found not guilty Monday of misdemeanor petit larceny charges stemming from their July arrest at the after-hours nightclub Club 216.
Roberts pleaded guilty to using a fake ID, for which he paid a $100 fine, and for underage possession of alcohol, for which he was placed in a pre-conviction probation program.
Barker, from the Philadelphia area, is a three-year starting offensive right tackle. Roberts, from Sarasota, Fla., also is an offensive lineman.
