Cavaliers boot Brown
The University of Virginia football program has cut ties with Mike Brown, a cornerback and kick returner for two seasons before suffering a torn anterior cruciate ligament that caused him to miss the 2007 season.
Brown was held out of spring practice following his arrest in February on charges of felony larceny and possession of marijuana. Brown subsequently was removed from the Cavaliers’ roster but there had been no comment on his status until Sunday, when UVa put out a news release announcing his dismissal.
Today is the Cavaliers’ reporting date for preseason practice.
