Virginia Sports Properties, the media rights holder for Virginia, announced that former Cavaliers star Cory Alexander will be the new analyst for the radio broadcasts of UVa men’s basketball games.

Alexander replaces Jim Hobgood, who was the basketball color commentator the past 12 seasons. The broadcasts were already going to have a new play-by-play man; Dave Koehn was hired as the football and basketball play-by-play announcer last summer.

Alexander was a point guard in the NBA and for the Roanoke Dazzle after playing for the Cavs from 1991-95. He ranks eighth on the UVa career list in assists (401) and 24th in scoring (1,286 points).
